Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a fourth grade teacher in a school in one of the top five big cities in New York state. My students come from diverse backgrounds, with a high rate of poverty.

We recently received a grant that allowed us to purchase classroom items. I bought a digital camera, knowing that capturing the students at their best - whether on class trips or in the classroom - would be a wonderful motivator. Unfortunately, the memory card the camera came with holds five pictures.

Not only do I need the memory card, but I also need the paper to print the pictures on, and while we are at it, the ink for my printer. The school has limited amounts of cartridges and sometimes we can wait months for a new shipment to come in.

With your donation, my students will be able to not only see themselves in pictures, but also take pictures of the work they are most proud of. They will be able to capture their trip to the Bronx Zoo, the habitat dioramas they will make as a science connection to the zoo, and many more of their finest moments and immortalize them in print.
