"It's not where you are, but where you are going." My 3rd grade students continue to look ahead towards their future and dream about who and what they want to become each and every day.
Although many of them have not explored the places beyond their state and many haven't even traveled outside of their own community, they continue to work hard and remind themselves that "failure is not an option." This is a quote that they are familiar with and remind each other of all the time.
These scholars want the opportunity to become global learners, which will one day allow them to become global leaders. These bright and creative minds do not have the resources and funds that allow them to explore places around the world. Many of them do not have a computer at home with internet access, the majority of them have never traveled on a plane or train, and many have never seen the ocean in person. These are things that we assume everyone has experienced or at least will at some point in their lives. I want to help open their eyes to the joyful and rich possibilities this world has to offer.
My Project
With these cameras, these students will be allowed to communicate their experiences, creativity, and dreams with other kids their age. This technology will help them build communication skills, global awareness, and enrich their understanding of the world beyond their community. They will be able to communicate with students from their neighborhoods, the United States, and other parts of the world. Their eyes will be opened to new communities, cultures, and ideas, which will ultimately inspire them to become positive global citizens and leaders.
Please help by donating to our Lights!
Camera! Action! project. These students are eager and energized to communicate with schools around the globe so that they can gain a better understanding of the world around them.
