The students at our school are progressive eager learners who are the major stake holders in their education. In our Media Center we support the standard of reading at least 20 minutes every day and forge ahead on technology tools to hone skills to thrive in today's digital world. Our population is diverse and many are coming to us with a high poverty background. We support 100% free and reduced lunch. As well as nourishing their bodies we must enrich their minds with experiences such as coding and robotics.
Our teachers are very talented and dedicated.
We have guided the student's performance from focus school level to reward school. We are committed to our students and their learning. Holding a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/IFSM as well as a Masters Degree in teaching I am excited to further our technology endeavors. Along with weekly lessons we will have coding clubs this year. Our Makerspace is a work in progress. I have included a 3D printer to our area. We will continue to add as many tools as possible to expand our horizons. Broadcasting will provide motivation for coding and a way to share what we see with them to others.
My Project
My students work very hard to create projects and program robots and other peripherals in their learning. We would like the tools to record our accomplishments for others to see. The highest level of the SAMR model for technology use is Redefinition. By actively recording and sharing, our projects change scope from creation to creation and sharing with others. Recording and sharing our efforts will extend out learning beyond our classroom doors.
We have an active Makerspace where we create and collaborate together.
Our students work in stations to create, program and creatively learn together. We have created 3 D printing designs and used 3D pens to better understand the process. We also code and learn macrame as a product and as an algorithmic process.
Using a podcasting process we can record and share our work with others. The tools for podcasting will allow us to redefine our process and collaborate with a wider audience.
