This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach theater arts and coach girls basketball so I interact with the most energetic and unselfish team-oriented students the school has to offer.

The energy of my classes basically drives the pulse of the school as many of them possess talents that have not been explored fully at this point in their lives.

On this Title I campus, theater arts is one of the few outlets of expression the students get. Many of them have immense talents with no platform on which to display them.

My Project

I am seeking a Nikon digital camera and a Laptop with editing ability in order to broaden the knowledge base of my drama class. The class is successful in writing and performing spoken word as well as building sets. We also perform improv as well as other forms of performance art. As a program that was built from scratch, we have expanded every year for the past 4 years and would like to continue to grow.

As a drama class, the students already write and create many of the shows and events throughout the school.

Our school is a title 1 and these materials will open up the ability for video projects as well as filming and editing numerous events throughout our campus.
