Lights, Camera, Action! Recording our Learning and Discussions on Video
My students need tripods, iPad cases, and microphones to film videos about what they are learning and record discussions and reflections!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Anna's classroom raised $233
This project is fully funded
My Students
I teach at a Title I school in an underserved part of San Francisco. Many of the students are children of immigrants or live in the neighborhood's low-income housing development.
Though their families often have fewer resources, that doesn't stop my students' desire and ability to learn and achieve!
My students are curious, funny, sweet kids who can't wait to learn in third-grade. They are eagerly learning cursive, mastering their multiplication facts, reading chapter books, investigating live crayfish in science, making stop-motion videos about Native American life, typing up their stories on Chromebooks, and so much more.
My Project
Being a part of a classroom is like being a member of society -- we learn to get along, listen to one another, and communicate respectfully. In our diverse, dynamic classroom, the third graders are learning communication skills and how to treat each other with compassion. As a whole class, we have filmed videos to teach others how to be SAFE and RESPECTFUL LEARNERS. We also made videos reflecting on our learning at the end of the school year. They loved sharing their ideas and seeing the videos they made teach other students in our school.
Now I want to give students more control to film their own discussions and make their own videos.
The tripods and iPad cases will allow groups of students to produce their own videos. They will write scripts, act, and make stop-motion videos. Students can also record themselves with microphones when they are in small groups discussing how to solve a math task or in book clubs. Then students can go back and analyze what went well and how they can communicate better.
Please help us get these recording tools that will help make more reflective and tolerant students as they take action in their own learning!
