My students need need a rug and a camera to help build success. The rug will be used for my pre-k students for circle time and the camera will catch our memorable moments.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Pre-Kindergarten is supposed to consist of happy memorable moments and positive experiences. This is really hard when my classroom does not reflect that. The rug that is in our classroom is dirty even after being cleaned. With a camera, my students will be able to record and post memories.
Our school is located in the inner-city and most of my students are labeled at-risk.
My pre-kindergarten four year old students have an additional challenge of being away from their homes/parents for the first time. Many of my students come in with limited supplies and experiences. It is vital for me to provide as many positive opportunities and experiences as I can. Our classroom is located in a portable building that is very old. Due to budget cuts we are able to buy basic necessities.
My Project
I am requesting a rug so that my pre-kindergarten students can enjoy circle time. My pre-k students love pretending like they are taking pictures so I would love to be able to have a classroom camera that can be used to take pictures to capture our memorable moments. Students will be able to take pictures of the world from their four year old point of views. They can share ideas and memories with their photos.
This project will change a number of different things.
It will build confidence in my students, help build their independence, and change our classroom appearance dramatically. Receiving a rug and a camera will give my students many positive opportunities and experiences. They will be able to sit on a carpet that is clean and educational. Using the camera my students will also experience technology at an early age and see pictures posted of them around the classroom.
