This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students have Autism and many other learning disabilities. Our children are all considered non-verbal and are low functioning autistic students. Our children are highly active and need a 2:1 ratio for learning and safe supervision.

They each have their own distinct and unique gifts and abilities that make it both a joy and a challenge to unlock.

They are loving and caring students that will surprise you daily with their odd sense of humor and contagious love and laughter. Our goal is to increase their developmental learning through play.

My Project

To differentiate our learning, we have chosen accessories for our light table which will Illuminate concepts especially made for light tables! The students will use these light table manipulatives to sort, count and make patterns. This is perfect for practice with everything from counting to creating color combinations. The sets come with a handy metal storage rack that gives students easy access to the materials they need!

We need these manipulatives to explore the properties of color and light while building math, language and science skills at the same time!

We will use everything from letters and numbers to pattern blocks and color chips.

Our students can’t resist digging, kneading, squeezing and playing with kinetic sensory sand! The sand is soft to the touch and easy to clean up, it feels wet, but it’s completely dry...which creates a unique sensation that naturally inspires hands-on, tactile exploration! Our students have used our kinetic sand so much that it has eroded away and we need more.
