This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As our fifth grade students prepare for middle school, one of the biggest challenges they face is one of language. The majority of them come from homes where little or no English is spoken. Teachers, students, and parents alike often struggle to bridge the gap. Nevertheless, everyone is committed to overcoming those barriers and doing whatever it takes to achieve success. One tool that plays a vital role is the use of hands-on project based learning experiences. Learning is Doing!
My Project
Our fifth grade students are currently engaged in learning about inventors and inventions as part of their Technology and Social Studies standards. In addition, we are preparing to begin our unit on circuits in Science.
Using Chibitronic circuits will give the students an opportunity to literally make a connection across the curriculum.
They will also creatively apply their knowledge in a way that is personally relevant and meaningful as they create a visual display of the one invention that they feel has the greatest impact on their daily lives.
Who knows what they will invent and where it will lead?
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
