My Project
At my school—a performing arts high school filled with brilliant and creative minds—our students are striving to balance demanding academic work with intense rehearsals, performances, and exams. As a math teacher here, I’m continually impressed by how committed our students are to their education, especially those who attend lunch and after school tutoring sessions in preparation for the upcoming state exams.
Unfortunately, the current fluorescent lighting is harsh, often causing headaches, eye strain, and discomfort for students who are trying their best to stay focused.
Students frequently voice concerns about how bright and distracting the lights are, making it difficult to concentrate during lessons or tutoring.
We’re requesting a set of new LED lights to create a calmer, more focused learning environment. These will allow us to turn off the overhead fluorescents and still have well-lit, comfortable conditions for learning.
In addition, many of our students come to tutoring straight from class or rehearsal, often skipping meals or unable to afford snacks. We’re also asking for snacks to provide during lunch and afterschool sessions—not only to keep students energized and focused, but also to create a welcoming and supportive space where every student feels seen and cared for. The snacks will serve as both a much-needed nutritional boost and an incentive to attend extra help sessions as we approach high-stakes testing season.
Your donation will directly impact students by improving their physical comfort, increasing their ability to focus, and providing them with small but meaningful acts of care through nutritious snacks.
