Lighting the Way to Education

My students need lamps to reduce the light noise in the classroom with the overhead fluorescent lighting. LED strip lighting will allow focus on the most used area of the room.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I was gifted this year to work with the best fifth-grade class in the state. Although academically and economically disadvantaged, my students are ready to take on a challenge at any time. We are all working to learn become more independent and to take the education that we are getting to the next level every day.

Our school is in transformation just like we are.

The environment of the school is ever-changing as we progress to become a Lighthouse School in The Leader in Me process. My fifth-graders have made great strides to become leaders of the school, the community, and the world around them.

My Project

In a world of noise, light, and chaos, these materials will allow me to create an environment of calm and serenity. With the harshness of the fluorescent lighting above our heads and the noise that they bring, these simple lamps will allow us to find peace while still letting us work to better ourselves.

Our environment is very important to the success that is had in our classroom.

It is this environment that makes us more comfortable to learn, and to let the education transform us into more educated people. This is the goal not only of this project but as my passion as a teacher.
