My Project
My students are passionate, creative, and eager to learn, not just about performing onstage, but also about the technical elements that make theater come alive. I teach middle school theatre, and our students pour their hearts into performances ranging from UIL competitions to showcases and fine arts events. They're not the only ones invested in the arts, our dance, orchestra, and visual art programs also collaborate on events that bring the entire school community together.
Unfortunately, our performance space is a cafetorium, a shared cafeteria and stage space with very limited and outdated lighting.
Despite this, our students remain enthusiastic and dedicated, always giving their best with what we have. But they deserve a space that reflects their effort and creativity.
With your help, we hope to bring in American DJ UV COB Cannon Lights to finally add quality lighting to our stage area. These lights will not only elevate the visual quality of our performances but will also allow our students to explore the technical side of theatre, learning how lighting design affects mood, storytelling, and audience engagement.
This gift won’t just benefit theatre students. It will serve every program in our Fine Arts department, from music concerts to dance showcases, and even school wide assemblies. It’s an investment in our entire campus culture.
Having access to professional lighting tools gives students hands-on experience with technical theatre and empowers them to create more engaging, impactful performances. They will be able to learn real world skills in lighting design and develop a deeper appreciation for the collaborative process of putting on a show.
The difference between a poorly lit cafetorium and a vibrant performance space is more than visual, it’s emotional and educational. Help us turn the spotlight on student creativity, growth, and confidence.
