My Students
My school serves the biggest population of middle school students in Kentucky. Enrollment is roughly 1,400 and I teach 15% of the population. My students have a lot of creativity and are learning real life connections through music and technology.
My students are incredible people who are making a difference in this world.
They come from all walks of life and learn to work together and become a family. Our school has a rich tradition of excellence and the music program is one of the key courses that make our school such a great place to learn. My students continually raise the bar and in doing so I must reach higher as their teacher.
My Project
Because our school was built in the 1970's at a time when most middle schools were not supplied a stage, our seasonal concerts are held in our gym. This does not serve as the best performance venue due to several reasons: lighting, sound, etc. Our students will use the items(floor lamp, light bulbs, extension cord, and music stand light) included in the package to create a better lighting situation for both the audience members and the musicians.
This project will create a more meaningful, creative, atmosphere for our young performers.
They deserve to feel like their "special moment" is important. By creating a more professional, intimate tone at our concerts, I believe our students will enjoy the performances more thoroughly.
