At our culturally diverse school, each student brings their own cultural and social experience to the music classroom. Creating music is so much fun while teaching students team work, perseverance, discipline, social skills and so much more.
Hands-on experiences in a classroom immediately engages all students, regardless of their level of expertise and skill.
Making music together with light up drum sticks is one of the best ways to make this happen. As Confucius once said: "Music creates a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without." What could be better than letting our children experience this?
My Project
A big part of 1st-5th grade music is learning how to read, play and write rhythm patterns. Students learn combinations of quarter notes, eighth notes, and sixteenth notes, dotted eighths and quarter notes and more. They learn to identify and play them and then create their own patterns! But of course, it takes practice! And as we all know, practice makes perfect. But it is important to have fun when practicing. Right now students play the patterns by clapping, chanting or tapping with wooden sticks on the floor. Rockstix are a drumstick that lights up when it makes contact with a hard object so every time a student taps out their pattern, the stick lights up. With a pair of Rockstix, each student will "light up" the room as they play their rhythm patterns.
What could be better than having drumsticks that light up when you play?
Dim the lights, review the rhythm and then play it. Not only does it create a great sound, but it looks amazing as well! How inspiring for kids! Even better, with a pair of Rockstix, students don’t need a drum to play –they can grab a pair of Rockstix and get started. How amazing is that?
