Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The wonderful thing about my students is that have a passion for information. Many of my students are investigative and like seeking out information on their own. They're eager to please with fun facts that everyone may not know.

My students are also avid readers.

The elementary school reading teachers did a wonderful job of instilling reading as a good habit and many of my students read every day. My students love getting as many book recommendations as they can!

My Project

My students have expressed how harsh the fluorescent lights feel inside schools, and I agree with them that they can be overbearing. The lamps will act as alternative lighting to the harsh lighting provided in most buildings.

I want my classroom to feel comfortable and cozy, and these lamps will assist in giving off that characteristic in my classroom, especially for my students who are prone to sensory overloads and to students who suffer from chronic migraines.

Being comfortable in my classroom is important to both my students and I, since many of them spend two 50 minute class period with me and I want my classroom to feel like a safe space to them.
