This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Last year during the 2020-2021 school year, I was one of the virtual teachers in an inner city high school. I taught about 60 students from my computer screen, and I love them dearly. They brought such personality into my classroom, unmuting to share parts of their day, or showing me different family members. I never thought I'd hear "brb going to cook some eggs" on a daily basis! Even in a pandemic, I count myself as one of the lucky teachers that got a good portion of students to attend their classes everyday. They kept me involved in their lives, and they were always so polite whenever they join or leave our virtual classroom for the day.

My Project
Last school year was crazy and chaotic, at best. I was on a computer with students fully online for the majority of the year, in a blank classroom. Now with school on the horizon and having students physically back in the classroom, I want to make sure that my room is comforting and a bright sanctuary for them. These students spent their last school year in their own homes, and freshmen year is such an important time to form connections and make friends. By creating a classroom that is bright and colorful, I hope that students will want to continue to come back to learn in my colorful classroom.
