Students in my district are both face-to-face and virtual. My team teacher and I have 22 in person learners as well as an additional 30 on line.
Everyone could use a mental boost right now!
You can help my students have a warm, mentally productive, classroom setting.
Science has proven that both, lighting and music, have a significant impact on the human brain. Each day, classical study music is played overhead during student work time. This has been proven to increase the absorption and retention of information. The lights are usually turned off because, they are so bright that they often cause headaches which slows the learning process. However, a dark room may lead to sleepiness or lowered endorphin levels. Light covers diffuse the bright lights while allowing the room to remain well lit for learning. The light covers we sampled have clouds on them (that look exactly like a beautiful sunny day) on them and the 2nd option is light covers with stars on them (perfect for the science and math I teach).
Right now, mental health is extremely important for everyone. Please help my classroom by donating to these life-changing light covers!
Thank you for your consideration.
My Project
These light filters will cover the extremely bright classroom lights, diffusing just enough to allow for a well lit classroom without causing headaches or fatigue. This will greatly assist students to focus better and retain more of what they are learning.
Several students have commented how calming the space in the classroom is where I have light covers over the lights and requested to have their seat moved under the covered lights.
There is a notable difference in behavior (much calmer) when students are seated under the diffused lights. Students who have autism or ADHD greatly benefit from the reduced stimulation caused by extremely bright classroom lighting.
