My Project

My students are a group of highly energetic, amazing children with autism in grades 1-5. Many students with autism have difficulties in learning and retaining new information, communicating, and social interaction. Many students on the Autism spectrum have varying sensory needs and need a variety of ways to learn and retain new information.

For this project, I am asking for a light table and manipulatives to use with the table.

This year, I have some very reluctant learners and traditional methods are not reaching them. I have been incorporating more hands on activities into our learning than ever before, as we work on letter/sound and number recognition. There are many ways that a light table can be beneficial to learners with sensory needs. Light tables have been proven to be engaging and bring a new dimension to repetitive tasks. They can also can transform tasks to exploratory hand-on activities. Finally, light tables make learning fun and entertaining!
