Help me give my students some much needed STEM accessories (building bricks, letters, numbers, texture materials, and math manipulatives) for our new light table; a bookcase; and a dramatic play center!
I teach two kindergarten classes at a Title I school. My students come from very diverse backgrounds and for many Kindergarten is their first exposure to English and a classroom setting. My students speak English, Spanish, Chinese, Chuukese, Urdu, and Marshallese. Many of my students come from limited English proficiency homes, and half of them come from very low socioeconomic backgrounds.
My students need concrete and hands-on experiences so they can experience things for themselves in order to build up both their experience and language bases.
They need to be able to interact with one another and work together to experience early success that will give them the confidence for great achievements for the remainder of their school career.
My Project
We have a light table in our classroom, but nothing to go on it! We need these STEM accessories to light up our Learning! We need translucent building blocks, math manipulatives, texture materials, letters, and numbers in order to do this. These would make a wonderful addition to our STEM corner! We would also love this bookcase to liven up our classroom library, and the treat cart to enhance our dramatic play center capabilities.
My students need lots of interactive learning experiences so they will be actively engaged in their own learning; this helps to increase their social skills, language skills, and academic skills all at the same time!
