My Project

5 years ago, the science in this school had major remodels. The room I teach in was not intended to be a science room after the renovations were done. As enrollment increased, the room was put to use for science. The biggest difference students notice about this room vs other rooms is the option to adjust lighting intensity for brighter lights during labs and activities and decrease glare from computer screens for desk work.

I support students working at their own pace and pursue working styles that best serve them.

As students and families work to find their way to a post-pandemic normal that works, I have flipped my curriculum to support everyone individually. There are many computer-driven assignment options (diagrams, notes, simulations) and lab-based activities (worm bins to study composting, worm races, worm paintings and individual experiments on worm habitats, for instance) for students depending on their attendance and health. To accomplish this, some students need task lighting, some need a non-glare environment, and some need a gentle way to take a break and de-stress. The supplies I'm asking for will enhance the room for student work and make it less dreary compared to other classrooms.
