My student's are artists! Every student at our Title One school comes into my classroom for art. It is a place where they can express themselves in a safe and welcoming atmosphere.
The needed change in lighting can support my goal to create a warm and peaceful environment at my Title One School.
My students come from various backgrounds with various struggles. It is so important to me that my classroom is a positive space. It's not just a place to make exciting artwork but a place that is home.
My Project
It is SO important to create a warm classroom environment for my in-need students. My first priority as a teacher is the safety and well-being of my students, my second is to teach them art so that they can express themselves and have an outlet. There are many things in my control to help me create a thriving classroom environment but one thing I can't change is the lighting. The lighting in our art room is very poor. The fluorescent lights cause headaches for both me and my students. Many studies show that fluorescent lights impact behavior and student achievement. The blue light covers will create calmness and reduce headaches and anxiety. The floor lamp will provide additional light. This simple solution will go a long way for not only the health and well-being of my students but for their academic achievement as well!
I can't wait for my students to create their beautiful artwork in a beautifully lit classroom!
