Help me give my students a Space-Saver Color-Changing Light Table. This will be a great addition to our interests areas that allow my students to engage in creative exploration through sensory play.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a teacher in an early childhood, full-inclusion, UTK classroom. Each day we aim to provide our learners with hands-on learning experiences that promote creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking through exploration. This light table has been on my wishlist for some time and it would be a wonderful addition to the variety of sensory experiences my students seek out each day.
Children learn best when they’re engaged, and this light table is sure to provide countless opportunities for my students to develop language, fine motor skills, and teamwork through discovery.
This year my students with disabilities seek out sensory play more than in past classes. So, whether it be at the sand and water tables, rice bins, or play dough, I know that my students remain engaged longer, demonstrate pro-social skills, like sharing and turn taking, more successfully, and use language to talk about their play and learning. I am so hopeful to add this cool light table to our classroom so we can provide even more ways for students to use our translucent builders, color paddles, and sensory materials as they explore light, cause and effect relationships, and how colors change.
