Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a special education teacher for students with a range of abilities. My program, Preschool For All Learners, includes students with a various disabilities. My students are hands-on learners who require short and engaging activities.
They are happy and curious learners.
They look forward to coming to school and experiencing a range of activities. They are always ready to engage in active learning. My students enjoy participating in innovative and creative activities.
I implement the Creative Curriculum with modifications and accommodations to meet students various needs. My students require language modeling, social emotions support, and adaptive equipment to access the curriculum. My students do well with proper accommodations and are able to meet their goals.
My Project
The materials provided will allow me to foster early literacy development by allowing students to explore letters in a fun and engaging activity. By providing me with a space saving color changing light table, I will also be able to engage students in early mathematical development by exploring numbers and shapes. The materials I am requesting will also provide students with the opportunity to practice their fine motor skills by using their hands to manipulate the letters, numbers, and shapes.
My students will benefit from the space saving, color changing light table, because it will support students with visual impairments, students with sensory needs, and spacial awareness.
It will promote social skills by taking turns and sharing. Students will be able to work in small groups of 2-3 students and use the manipulatives connected to our unit lesson.
