This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Shhh! This project is for my student teacher! She will soon be teaching special education students in a high school setting that is similar to the demographic of my own students.

Her students come from all walks of life and she is passionate about creating a safe place for them to come to and learn.

My Project

You may be asking, "Why ask for lights in a classroom? How does this relate to education or help students?" Often students who have sensory sensitivities can find the fluorescent lights in a classroom distracting. This can have a negative impact on students if there is flickering, humming, or if the light is simply too bright. This is especially common for students with autism.

Creating an inclusive classroom includes incorporating lighting that is filtered or is more catered to all students' sensitivities.

Using LED or warm string lights is a perfect way to not only create a cozy classroom, but is also better for students' focus, health, and overall learning.

Help me gift my student teacher with these lights so she can begin her journey the best as possible!
