Our school is a third through fifth-grade intermediate school set in a small, rural town. Our school culture is very diverse. They come from all different ability levels, ethnic backgrounds, and home environments, but in our classroom, we are all not only equal, but we are a family. My co-teacher and I have 65 sweet, sweet fifth graders between the two of us.
Our goal is to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where every child feels safe and loved every single day.
My Project
With the increase in technology we often work with the overhead lights off in order to cause less strain on our eyes. However, it makes it hard to take notes or read the supplemental material in the dark. Each of these lights will light up a specific area in our room.
Lighting up our learning will help my students grow to new heights.
The sensory light will go in the front of our classroom next to our privacy tables. Because our classroom works in table groups all the time the privacy tables are a quiet place to work independently. Adding the fish light up tube will enhance the environment and allow those students more light when working. The three smaller lamps will light up our library area to allow students to choose new books. The rope lights will accent our bulletin boards that hold key learning charts. The under cabinet lights will light up the whiteboards so that students can see the notes or instructions I have written.
With these lights it will enhance our learning environment and allow students to not only do their best but to also get the most out of their learning.
