Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a speech-language pathologist, I work with many diverse students from preschool to grade 8. I work with students in both the general education and special education environments, and provide speech-language therapy for students with speech-language disorders, specific learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, ADHD, and other health impairments. These students are amazing and all have individual strengths and needs that we, as special education providers, provide. Our students learn and grow tremendously when they are provided the individual supports that they each need. This request for sensory and musical toys will specifically be benefiting some of our students with significant communication needs. These students are working on simply engaging in an activity, requesting, and making choices between two exciting objects!
My Project
Some of our students require preferred items to encourage engagement in educational tasks. Specifically, we are hoping to receive some musical and sensory toys to keep our students engaged. The students we will be supporting in this group have significant communication needs. We will be working on engagement, making choices, and making requests using these super fun items! Every student is different and has a different perspective on life. Some students love to shake the tambourine. Some students love to squish balls. Some students love all the lights. Help us to find a child's favorite toy with this diverse set of sensory and musical toys.
