Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my classroom have wonderful character traits and are an asset to the world they live in. My classroom is a Special Education Self-Contained Classroom filled with eleven smiling faces. Behind those smiles, however, are many intellectual disabilities accounting for low academic skills and frustration. Our class centers on academics and social skills to make our students successful for the future.
The neighborhood is very supportive of all the children at school especially my special needs students.
Students in other grade levels help make my special students feel needed and positive about themselves. Our community comes together to help each other be successful.
My Project
Reading is an important skill for special needs students to learn as early as possible in their education. The materials I have selected will allow my special needs students to become successful readers to be able to go on and get a job later in life in the community they live in. I'm requesting Reading & Writing Instant Learning Centers, Can Do! Reading Games, Sight-Words Flash Cards, Sight-Words Steps, Reading in a Flash! Sight-Words Learning Tub, Flip & Read Sight-Word Sentences, Magnetic and Creating Sight-Words Sentences Centers, Write & Wipe Sight-Words Practice Cards, and one Interactive Language Notebook Reproducibles Activities.
We are planning to use the sight word cards to reinforce words through a game called flashlight sight words.
The sight word centers, magnetic boards, and sight word activities will also be used to reinforce sight words and reading skills. The students reading skills will increase daily with the use of these especially thought out materials that I planned for in our classroom project.
Special needs students are an asset to their community and need to be able to read and be successful to have a career in the future.
My students will benefit from the sight word materials chosen and will allow them to be stronger readers and life-long learners in their community.
