My Students

I am a Head Start teacher in Ohio. I help children 3, 4, and 5 years old learn through experience and interaction within their social and physical environments. Our school is in Northeast Ohio, an area that has experienced a declining economy due to severe job losses.

As a preschool teacher, I work with my younger students in self-help skills, expanding language development, learning the alphabet, recognizing numbers, and learning to count.

My older students are introduced to cognitive skills, and they are encouraged to practice making proper decisions. Science and discovery activities stimulate curiosity as they learn valuable lessons about themselves and the world around them.

I love watching children grow and develop individually by working with them to explore the world around them and watching each goal they achieve. Art and music activities encourage individual expression. I include music and movement, creative art, storytime, and writing in my pursuit to help children develop to become kindergarten-ready. Each age-based program encourages children to develop their imaginations and learn by play and hands-on exploration.

My Project

The light table will allow my students to learn through sensory play experience

The students will be encouraged to count, sort, pattern, and color recognition.

The light table will allow for opportunities of engagement that will encourage children to use creativity will learning every day skills they need to acquire.

The light table will allow the students to be able to view the physical properties of the materials they are using. Students will use their curiosity to keep their attention and focus on learning through the enhancement of the light table.
