My Project

Many of my English Language Learners have just arrived to the United States. They range in age from 6-13 years old. I have about 600 students that I see once a week for hands-on science instruction. Our best "Ah ha" moments come when students DO science rather than watching videos or observing teacher demonstrations. Your donations of concave lenses, mirrors, beakers, a hot plate, and prisms will help students maximize their understanding of how light interacts with real-world items which will support mastery of science concepts and create lifelong learners. Students will also be able to see how water behaves when heated as I use the hot plate. Learners will create and implement the engineer experimental design process as they create force and motion investigates using toy cars, ramps, and spring scales.

Your gift will help enrich students' love for learning as they demonstrate how light travels from one medium to another while working independently at workstations.
