My students need 4 iPads and cases, 6 Digital Stylus Pencils for iPads, a printer, STEM and Art resource guides, and materials to build simple circuit sculptures.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I have a culturally and economically diverse group of students, but the commonalities they all share and what I am most proud of are their great hearts and passion for learning.
They treat each other with respect, are sensitive to each other's differences, and appreciate each other's individuality. My students are also inquisitive and so curious about their world. They are information seekers. They ponder over books to find the answers to their questions. Often their answered questions lead to even more questioning and they love to share their findings with others. They are my inspiration!
My Project
My students will use the iPads and Stylus Pencils to engage in scientific principles, technology, engineering design while Empowering Students Through Art. It is my hope to increase learning in the sciences, as well as to motivate students to become problem-solvers and critical thinkers. Students will learn about electrical circuits using science kits I already have. To integrate art into their learning, students will work in collaborative groups to create circuit sculptures. iPads and the Stylus Pencils will be used to sketch ideas and design the different components of their group sculpture. Designs will be printed using the requested printer and students will refer to their designs as they move from a 2D drawing to 3D creation. They will have to meet certain criteria in their engineering process and art technique must be evident in their design. My project will increase students use of academic language and articulation of scientific and art principles in a creative way.
Learning about scientific principles through engineering, technology, and art promotes critical-thinking, problem-solving, and develops collaboration skills as students work to find design solutions with their peers.
Allowing students to express their learning through art encourages creativity and makes learning about science that much more fun!
