Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are amazing. They come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 60% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in Los Angeles. Students speak a multitude of languages including English and Spanish. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. We are also home to a STEAM program where our students conduct research and participate in a Science Explorers Academy. There are a multitude of teams and clubs that fit the needs of everyone.
My Project
Giving low-income students access to new cameras is an investment in their future.
Having award winning film producers as their mentors will ensure that they are getting the best instruction possible.
Some of the exciting projects will work on include:
- Weekly news videos
- Music videos
- Class presentations in video format for all their class
- Short films
- and more
My project will make a difference because these students are eager to begin to show what they have learned to the world.
Our classrooms are not yet at the level technologically to meet their needs as learners. This grant will help to close that gap just a little bit more.
