This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a NYC teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district in the South Bronx, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students are on the autism spectrum and are enrolled in a specialized school. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things predictable and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
I would like to provide my students with a classroom environment that is clean, organized and neat.
My students classroom is an interior room and I would like to create a light and bright atmosphere. I have previously received donations towards bean bag chairs and now would like to update the worn out cabinets with contact paper and bulletin board paper.
My Project
My students are assigned to an inner classroom with no windows. I am working to make the classroom light and bright for September. There is a worn out cabinet that needs to be updated with new contact paper. One of the walls is chipped from old paint and the whiteboard paper would brighten up the classroom. These materials would make a positive difference in the classroom environment that my students will be learning in.
A light and bright classroom will energize my students to focus on their classwork.
My goal is to create an uplifting environment for my students in this windowless classroom!
