My Students

I teach in a highly diverse school, where one-third of our population is made up of English language learners. Eighteen countries and fourteen different spoken languages are represented. My students work hard and they are excited and eager to learn.

I have a variety of students who speak Swahili, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Chinese, and French.

They are all very enthusiastic about learning how to read, write, listen, and speak in English. Every project funded is a win for our classroom full of diverse learners. I am so excited for my students to receive what they need to thrive!

My Project

To help students increase their English-speaking skills, they will need a center with fun and engaging resources they can use and practice speaking with.

My students loved their writing center so much that they wanted another one!

Three sets of conversation cubes will give students an engaging variety of ways to talk to one another or record on the laptop or through a microphone. Two sets of microphones will give pairs of students a chance to use technology to assist with projecting their voices. Disposable microphone covers will keep them sanitized and clean for each use.

Multiple games, picture sequence cards, and sentence building dominoes will help build confidence with different topics and ideas that can be spoken about. Last but not least, the Alvorog 3-Tier Rolling Cart from our last project was perfect for housing all writing materials, so we will need a separate one in this project for organizing and holding all of the speaking items.
