I am currently working as a preschool special education teacher for eight students between the ages of three and five years old at P811M, The Mickey Mantle Public School. I currently graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University with a Masters of Art in special education. Through both professional training at the New York City Board of Education and through my professional training at Teachers College, Columbia University, I have learned the importance of relying on a variety of different resources in designing a program to best meet the developmental needs of individual students in a class. The Carolina Curriculum Developmental Charts and Creative Curriculum Resource for Preschoolers will help to determine what skills the students already know, what skills they need to refine, and what skills they need to learn. The attached curriculum guides will provide a resource for developing lesson plans and units that help to best meet the students?academic, social/emotional, fine and gross motor, and daily living skills. Through fun-filled developmentally appropriate lesson plans, the students will learn the necessary preschool and pre-readiness skills. This includes, but is not limited to lessons that will improve the students?creative art experiences, their math skills, their pre-reading and pre-writing skills, and their play skills. Moreover, the students will refine their fine motor skills (such as cutting and pasting activities), their sensory skills, and their gross motor skills via yoga. Not only will the materials on the attached list serve in increasing my students educational experiences, but they will also provide lifelong resources for me as an educator.
