My Students
Our school is a hidden gem in our urban school district. We're an alternative public school that primarily serves at-risk-students by providing a caring, personalized environment in which students are allowed to work at their own pace. We use a solution-focused approach to helping our kids overcome whatever obstacles they face.
Our students have faced a wide variety of struggles that led them to our alternative school and they come from all walks of life, but every one of our students who graduate say that our school changed their life.
My Project
For years I have invited students to learn to juggle. It's a hobby with many benefits. Becoming a juggler teaches perseverance and patience. It's a lifelong skill that requires no special equipment. One can juggle rocks if no "real" juggling items are around!
Moreover, in a world that seems to get faster and faster, with more complexity and stress in students' lives than "back in my day", juggling serves as a meditative and relaxing practice benefitting both mind and body.

The "World's Best Juggling Balls" are a memorable reward for those dedicated students who pass our juggling test - successfully juggling three balls in a cascade pattern for at least 30 seconds.
