I am giving students choice to pick their books and hone in on their reading skills, by combining lessons with our English teachers on campus. Students will be using the information in the books to create a book report that describes how to use Forensic Science in their story. \r\n\r\nOne of my student was so excited about all these new books that she didn't want to let me get the books checked into our library system before reading some of them. It is such a joy to see how my students are interested in reading books, going to the school library and choosing what they want, and working with their English teachers on a combinted assignment. \r\n\r\nThis would not be possible without you. The fish lamp with its smooth music adds a soothing atmosphere, and it is helping students stay grounded and focused. What made it even more special is that my students helped put the chairs together themselves which gave them a real sense of pride and ownership in the space.\r\n\r\nš” Student reactions: When everything was set up, their faces lit up. Students immediately went for the beanbag and chairs, saying things like \"this feels like home.\" It has gotten so popular that I even have a little \"lunch bunch\" of students who come in during lunch just to hang out in the space. It was not planned but it is okay š.\r\n\r\nš What is next: We are using the space daily for independent work, group discussions, and even those quiet reset moments students need. The environment is already boosting motivation and helping students feel supported.\r\n\r\nYour donations did not just give us furniture. You helped create a safe and welcoming community spot inside our school. At first, I didn't think that it would really make them happy and it was more for the teachers to have more resources, but the students were just as excited as us teachers. \r\n\r\nWe have been wanting these textbooks for a while now, and now we have fresh material to prepare our kids for their next steps in life. We have been using them in all our courses regardless of level, we find something to pull from them. Our AP students love the challenge problems, and the books explain concepts so all our kids can understand them. I watch as our students feel more comfortable in their subjects and I see both mine and their growth. These books have helped me and other teachers learn new ways to teach and give us an approach that doesn't seem so daunting. \r\n\r\nThis is truly a gift that keeps on giving, our students can tutor each other with the extra books and help build our community.","fullyFundedDate":1732652937046,"projectUrl":"project/book-resources/8831231/","projectTitle":"Book Resources","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fackler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9780808_orig.jpg?crop=172,172,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738947390834","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9780808"},{"teacherId":7395171,"projectId":8458895,"letterContent":"When I started this project back in June, little did I know the huge impact it would have on our campus. I wanted to create a learning area that is a thoughtful place where the design and color would foster learning and nurture creativity. I asked for colorful fabrics, flexible seating and basic shapes that were different from the standard wood grain and blue plastic seating. I ended up placing the pieces in a public area where they could be enjoyed by all students instead of a single classroom. \r\n\r\nI created a space where students could sit and discuss literature during English class. A space where they could engage in discussions and share their understanding and interpretation of a particular phrase, paragraph, poem or book. Where students could sit and discuss thoughts, ideas, college applications and plans for their futures. Whether it be starting college immediately after graduation, joining the military or taking a gap year.\r\n\r\nThis endeavor recently got the attention of some of our other supporters and we are now in the process of possibly getting our cafeteria/auditorium/staff training center totally refurbished and this all thanks to you.
