Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and excited to learn! They come to school every day with big smiles on their faces and are a joy to work with. They are working on life and transition skills, such as making change, cooking, and community safety.
My students are ages 18-22 and are learning transition skills to be able to navigate the community successfully when they graduate from our school.
They use the life skill knowledge learned at our school to be able to independently perform self-care and community tasks.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning because they will have the necessary tools to learn important life skills as they transition into adulthood.
As a class, we are working on cooking, laundry, functional money, and time skills.
The laundry sorter basket and other items used for doing laundry will help my students learn how to independently do their laundry. The play money items such as the money board game and the calculator cash register will help them learn how to count money and make change for items that they purchase. The headphones will allow the students to complete educational computer activities.
