Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Through student centered learning, exposure to STEM career pathways, and a focus on innovation, problem-solving, and risk-taking we are developing tomorrow's innovators at our school. The learning in the classroom is designed to expand on students' interests, their ideas, and all the questions they have!

It is our hope that this learning extends beyond the classroom and into their everyday lives.

Our school staff and administration work hard to ensure that all students are given an opportunity to learn and feel successful.

My Project

My students are such eager and inquisitive learners. Throughout the 6th grade year, we focus on studying the human body. Students take on the role of researchers and of medical students.

Although we have access to computer models of the human body, it would be more helpful to have actual life-size models of the human torso and of the skeleton.

A model is used to help scientists visualize things that they cannot actually see. It can be thought of as a thinking tool, to help scientists form explanations. In the classroom, I would love for my students to have these life-sized models to learn from.
