Help me give my students molecular model kits which will help them build models of molecules and manipulate chemical equations so they can "see" chemistry in action.

My Project

For the past few years I've been using beads, stickers and paper scraps to help students visualize how molecules change during a chemical reaction, but it is not always uniform between groups. Connecting beads on a pipe cleaner helps students count the number of atoms but doesn't help them understand the connections that make molecules unique.

With these kits my students will be able to connect atoms together to make molecules that make more sense.

Students will be able to compare to their neighbor because everyone will have the same supplies. They will be able to put them together and pull them apart to show how molecules rearrange during a chemical reaction.

In short, these molecular model kits will help my students get their hands onto atoms and molecular models in a way they haven't been able to before.

Mrs. Barlow will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by September 2.
