This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach kindergarten in an inner city school in Flint, Michigan, where 100% of our students qualify for free lunch. The majority of our students come to us below grade level and have little academic support at home due to the life circumstances of their families.
My students are eager to learn, but need a lot of additional support in all subject areas, in order for them to be successful in their future endeavors.
Your donations to our projects help us to make that happen for the students that we are blessed to serve.
My Project
My students need caterpillars, ladybug Larvae refill, a grow a frog kit, a praying mantis kit, and an ant factory for learning about life science in our classroom. We had some of these living creatures in our room last year and the students loved it. I am hoping to be able to give my current students the same experience. I have also included jumbo magnifiers so that the students can get a close up look as the insects and tadpole grow and change. The addition of these items will enhance our unit of living things as the students will be able to make observations and discuss what they are seeing with one another.
