Life Outside of a Box

My Students

My students have all been impacted by Hurricane Harvey and are some of the most resilient people I have ever known. Through everything they have been through I have never heard them complain about what they lost or don't currently have. They come to school and work hard if not harder than ever before.

I can only imagine how far these kids will go if they had access to a well equipped classroom.

A classroom without storage is not well equipped.

My Project

Hurricane Harvey took all of our classroom storage. My project is to provide storage for my classroom and my students. Due to the lack of storage in our temporary classrooms, my students and I store our classroom supplies under desks and in boxes. My classroom library sits on the floor in the back of our classroom.

My students and I are living out of boxes.

Bookshelves will help organize our books and supplies keeping them from being damaged or lost. They will also help us locate materials faster giving more time to learning. Our classroom library can be organized and allow students to easily choose the books they would like to read.
