My Project

In this engaging and hands-on financial literacy project, "Life, Luck, and Loot: Financial Literacy Through The Game of Life & Monopoly," students will explore real-world money management concepts through classic board games. Using The Game of Life and Monopoly as interactive tools, students will apply what they’ve learned in class about budgeting, saving, investing, debt, and decision-making in an environment that mirrors real-life financial scenarios. While playing, students will complete accompanying worksheet assessments that challenge them to analyze the financial choices they make in the game, compare them to real-world strategies, and reflect on the long-term impact of their decisions.

This project is designed to support and expand the financial literacy knowledge gained in the classroom, making complex concepts more accessible and relatable—especially for students from underserved backgrounds.

By blending structured classroom learning with game-based applications, students can better understand the importance of financial responsibility, economic opportunity, and the role of chance and planning in achieving financial success. This activity encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and personal reflection, empowering students to envision how financial literacy can directly impact their own futures.
