Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our classroom community learning is exciting. We not only learn in the classroom setting, but we also have opportunities to go beyond the classroom into science lab, field trips to museums, and through gardening. My students love to see how, what they learn in science and math can be applied.

I have the most enthusiastic students.

They thrive to learn more, they are constantly asking questions, and have a positive outlook on school. My students love to make connections between what they are learning and their everyday life. They truly make teaching a pleasure everyday. My school is truly a little family. Everyone is supportive in trying to find new ways to help develop our students thinking in and out of the class. As a school we are all invested in the each other and each other students.

My Project

My classroom currently doesn't have a library. I would love to build a mini library for my students to have books at their finger tips. I would also love to take a little time to do read a loud to my students. I believe reading should happen in every class no matter what subject you teach. My student need calculators. Our curriculum "Everyday Math" has calculator lessons and at this moment we have none. I would use the calculator for direct instruction. I would also love to provide my students with current events at their level with the Time Magazine. I think it would also be another opportunity to make learning more fun.

I believe that having many different outlets for learning are important to reach all my learners.

What classroom isn't improved by having books to foster a love for reading, and encouraging our children (students) to find books they love. My students lives will be changed because they will continue to question and find answers through books and ask more questions.
