This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager learners who enjoy school. They come from a low income urban community, and many are first-generation Americans. They are active learners who are curious about the world around them and are always asking questions and looking for connections between ideas and their own lives.

Many of my students spend extended hours at school in the after school program.

They often lack access to books and computers at home. Our school is a Title I school with all students receiving free school lunch.

My Project

The joy of painting is indescribable. It is wonderful how the colors mix together on the paper to show your feelings or thoughts. It's a form of expression that all my students enjoy doing. However, due to budget constraints often my students do not have access to painting supplies.

These paint pallets will allow my students to create beautiful art projects.

These paintings will tie in to various subjects across the curriculum and even be informal assessments for them to show their learning. Moreover, painting is just plain fun! Students always want to do more and more of it, and these paints will allow them the materials they need to do it.
