Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It is so important to teach students about empathy, kindness, and paying it forward. We want to help our community by providing basic necessities to the elderly nursing home and promoting wellness.

Many times, the elderly in nursing homes are lonely and feeling unloved due to lack of visitors.

I want my students to make an impact by uplifting the hearts of the elderly by a special message on a card with a care package.

The students will learn how a simple and kind gesture can impact someone else's lives forever. Many of the elderly in nursing homes have chronic illness and many need wheelchairs to get around. The storage bags can be attached to the wheelchair or bed to make it easy to grab a Kleenex, eyeglass holders, sanitizer, chapstick, and a deck of cards to play with.

The students will put essentials in a bag and write a personal message of hope and love to someone who could be their grandparent. Empathy is a key part of being a responsible and helpful community member at school and elsewhere.
