Life Essentials--Snowy Days, Hungry Days, Part 2

My Students

Yay! It's going to snow! Oh, wait! What about the breakfast program? What about lunch? I'm hungry already!

Our students are a wonderfully diverse mix of boys and girls who attend a Title One school in an otherwise affluent school district.

For many of them, they not only lack the extras, they lack the basics. We have approximately 100 students who are deserving of free or reduced priced lunch. When school is delayed, dismissed early, or canceled, so are the breakfast and lunch programs that they have come to count on. For these students, these are life essentials.

My Project

On delayed opening days, many of our children who are deserving of free breakfast show up at school hungry. On early dismissal days, these same children count on having a nutritious lunch at school. When the cafeteria is closed due to the weather, we want to be able to have supplies on hand so we can still feed those who need to be fed. We are asking for help in meeting their most basic need, food to eat on those delayed opening or early dismissal days, or when school is canceled. Having a supply of granola bars, cereal, juice boxes, fruit snacks, and Easy Mac will allow us to offer them breakfast and lunch when our cafeteria is closed. Supporting this project, which will buy breakfast and lunch supplies, will feed many deserving students when the meals they count on are not available because no child should ever go hungry.

Your donations will allow us to provide breakfast and lunch for our deserving students when school is delayed, closed early, or canceled due to inclement weather, and our cafeteria is closed.

We are so grateful for all the donations made to Part 1 of this project. Those supplies have been depleted, and it is time to plan ahead so that when the need arises, we will be ready. Thank you so much for helping to ensure that snowy days are not hungry days for "our kids!"
