This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever had a bad hair day that just ruined your entire day? Having head lice makes a bad hair day even worse.

My students are a bubbly group of 2nd graders that enjoy singing and writing elaborate stories.

About 75% are English language learners. They attend a 100% free lunch school, and live in a low-income neighborhood. Regardless of the economic factors affecting their neighborhood, my students have a joy of learning and come to school every day excited to learn new skills.

My Project

A number of students come to school with head lice infestations, and their families either don't have the resources and/or knowledge of how to properly combat this problem. Students with head lice will receive new pillows, laundry detergent, and lice repellent (for the home) in order to have a a clean and hygienic study and living environment, and to be better focused in class. These items will be accompanied by detailed instructions for proper removal of head lice from their home and child's hair.

This project will make a difference by allowing our classroom to stay clean and lice free, as well as my students' homes in being lice free and clean.

My students deserve to have pride in their appearance from head to toe.
