Biology lessons begin in the elementary grades. Although primary students cannot understand complex, abstract concepts; teachers are laying down the foundations for the future. Learning about life cycles develops a student’s understanding of the world around them and helps them to appreciate nature. The tadpole to frog kit and butterfly larvae as well as gardening supplies will help my students experience the basis. but weighty concept, of life, death, and birth.
My first-grade students are concrete, hands-on learners, therefore seeing the actual life cycle of a frog and butterfly will stay with them for a life time.
