My Students
What is the best way to reconnect with nature? Help my students experience the wonder of growing butterflies in our own classroom.
I have 18 four and five year-olds who are all eager learners.
They are always ready to explore and discover new things. They are mostly from low-income families and our urban community has limited resources when it comes to learning about nature. We are about to finish our unit study of plants and we are all excited to learn about animals and insects like butterflies and ladybugs.
My Project
The butterfly growing kit and books will give us a hands-on opportunity. Watching the butterfly grow and documenting its stages will give them a learning experience that is authentic. By witnessing the transformation of the butterfly, the students will fully understand the process.
