This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our Spanish-immersion class library is pretty awesome. It is 2 fold, with each side designated to a different language. On the left side, we have our English titles, and on the right side, we have our Spanish titles. The shelves are made of beautiful wood, and on each of their 3 layers, rest full sets of brand-new, color-coded book bins to keep our books organized and easy to find. On the English side, we have all different types of titles. From picture books to chapter books. Some are narrative texts and some are informational texts. The only problem is, the Spanish side of our library is not quite as impressive. It is not nearly as full, the few books we do have are old, there are no informational texts (only narrative texts), and there is no variation in reading lexile (text complexity).

With this project, I am seeking to add to our classroom Spanish library so that it can be just as full and varied as our English classroom library.
