My students need Spanish books for our independent reading library. They also need book shelf to hold the books! Some of these books are Judy Moody, Stink, and Nate el grande series!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are bilingual learners, and most of them have been at our school since kindergarten. As sixth graders, students have a lot of responsibility and are expected to be role models for their younger peers. They are cheerful, bright, and ready to learn individuals who crave challenge. My students value academics but are also intrigued by different cultures and diversity within the community surrounding them. In mathematics, they cheer when we solve problems, and they always ask for extra homework.
In Spanish class, they constantly crave to read more books and learn more about cultures and humans around the world.
All of these students deserve to have the materials they need to be constantly challenged. In a world in which technology is so prominent, we need more resources! Extra books and bookshelves will completely revamp our whole independent library!
My Project
Students need engaging books to push their critical thinking, and literary decoding skills. My independent library is seriously lacking some fun, relatable books for my students to read! This project will refresh our library with books from all genres and reading levels! Books including Nate, el grande series, Stink, Judy Moody and many more will allow students to access complex text in SPANISH! My classroom is also in desperate need of new book shelfs for our independent reading library! I use color coded book shelves, to easily separate genres for students.
Because our school is bilingual, it is so important that students keep progressing in their Spanish literacy development.
Spanish class is so much more fun when my students are actually enjoying what they read! With more options of realistic fiction, fantasy fiction, and traditional children's tales, my kids are going to have so much fun during independent reading time.
